Small Numbers and Big Figures at PokerStars' European Poker Tour Polish Open November 17, 2008

The European Poker Tour Polish Open hosted by the popular online poker site PokerStars.com did not draw in the expected number of players to the tournament on day 1b. Despite only 118 players taking part in the event on day 1b the tournament still managed to make several players very happy when the winners went home with heavy pockets.

The event worked up to an approximate of $6,744 per buy-in and its collective prize pool generated a $465,445 first place prize. Some of the well known players who chose to participate in the event included Gino Alacqua, Katja Thater, Marty Smyth, Luca Pagano, Dario Minieri, Isabelle Mercier, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, Sebastian Ruthenberg, Mark Teltscher, Andreas Krause, Roland De Wolfe, Theo Jorgensen, and Thomas Fougeron.

Sorel Mizzi was one among the first few players to fall out. Marino Serenelli was the luckier among the two and won the hand, making a straight and dropping Sorel Mizzi to 750.

Few games later and other players left the table after being defeated by their counterparts.

Luca Pagano, Mark Dalimore, Markus Golser, Cezary Pudlis and Michael Tureniec were among them. Marino Serenelli's luck ran out as well when he had to drop out of the game, eventually leaving Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier holding more than 40,000 worth of poker chips.

Ramzi Jelassi did play well in the beginning but soon lost out to Dario Minieri who made a great comeback to the table.

Level six saw Roland De Wolfe with 20,000 to his name, but this soon changed as De Wolfe made some very smart calls and ended up with 67,000.

Eventually, only 56 players remained; among whom were Roy Alain, Katja Thater, Kristoffer Hansen, Andreas Krause, Remy Biechel, Joannes Strassman, Mark Teltscher and Isabelle Mercier.
