Phelps a World Class Poker Player Too August 21, 2008

Everyone that has been paying any attention to the Olympic Games in Beijing this summer have without a doubt heard the name of Michael Phelps. A person in an otherwise obscure sport he has catapulted himself into the forefront of the sporting world and into the homes of millions across the globe.

But what most people who have spent their time paying attention to the games don't know is that Phelps is a potential world class Poker player also.

He has set the world on fire and set an Olympic record with an amazing eight gold medals for defeating every foe that he met in the pool. But eight is not the record in the Poker world and he will have to win more than eight gold bracelets to surpass the ultimate champions in this arena.

Michael Phelps has said that he is willingly to look into the possibility of joining the World Poker Tour with aspirations of possibly one day participating in the World Series of Poker. If that occurs it will be a melding of two worlds and the fanfare would be tremendous. It would actually help the both sports that much more. Swimming enthusiasts might decide to cross over into the Poker world and Poker players might decide that they enjoy watching a good swimming competition. At any rate Phelps' emergence from the pool and onto the floor of any Poker room in the world would certainly make headlines.

Michael Phelps might be the next face of the Poker tours. With the amount of endorsement deals that he will be raking in he would be wise to cash in on the momentum of his fame and he, and Poker, would be well served. It looks like there is more gold to be won.
