Jennifer Harman

Born November 29, 1964 in Reno, Nevada

Jennifer Harman has seen it all. A typical rags-to-riches story, her life has been filled with ups and downs. Starting from a small town in Nevada to the big gamblers paradises of Las Vegas and Atlantic City, her career has been a roller coaster throughout. She battled illness, waiting on tables for a living, seeing money come her way and then go out as quickly as it came, Jennifer has endured them all.

Born into a farming family in Reno, young Jennifer had lots of ambition but little money. She took care of the latter along with a debilitating kidney ailment by unflinchingly participating in poker tournaments and big game poker to rake in lots of earnings along the way. Her big moment came in the year 2000 when she won a double bracelet as part of the World Series of Poker tournaments. Along the way, she almost filed for bankruptcy and was saved literally by Poker.

She started playing when she was eight and continued at the Poker tables where her father was playing and in many cases earning more than him when she was filling in for him. Eventually, she decided to take up Poker as a full time profession and though she needed a kidney transplant, she managed to hold on to Poker. Her big break came in the 1990's when she started playing in the World Series of Poker tournaments. The first time she broke into the top ten was in 1995 when she finished sixth at the Poker Pot-Limit Hold 'em that had a guarantee of $2,500.

At the 2002 World Series ok Poker, she cashed in big time winning more than $10,000. She is known as a cash game player and one for the big occasion. She has managed to hold on to the big games in the Bobby's room casino at Las Vegas and can be seen sometimes there playing for $3,000 and $6,000 limits. In her career, Harman has seen the pendulum swing in her favour as well as away from her and she has won millions and lost them at the same time. Her biggest single night earnings are against the Texan billionaire Andy Beal when she won close to nine million dollars in a single day. Harman admits that she is a poor player among several others who struck it rich in the casinos.

When the online format was introduced and started becoming popular, Harman quickly jumped on to it and currently plays exclusively for FullTilt poker tournaments. Though she is not a big game player in the online format, nonetheless her presence adds value and sheen to the FullTilt poker rooms. She has been called the "one of the most elite of the players and among the all time greats". Her total tournament winnings to date are more than $2 million and she is expected to rake in more in the coming years. Not bad considering that she started poker at her father's side and had several hiccups along the way.
