Darus Suharto Runs Out Of Luck at the WSOP Table November 10, 2008

The main table at the World Series of Poker had a lot of stiff competition and unfortunately for Darus Suharto, it was not his lucky night.

In a final attempt to increase his chips, Darus Suharto, took a gamble on his hand of an ace and eight trying to make a go for 8.6 million in chips. Unfortunately this gamble was called out by Scott Montgomery who held a great hand with an ace and a queen.

This was an unlikely win because it was not expected that either player would be able to put their cards with the flop, especially since the queen was ahead.

Montgomery defeated Suharto with a flush and Suharto made an exit with $2.4 million in his pocket after the 105th poker hand played that day at the final table.

Suharto, an accountant from Toronto, Canada managed to secure the sixth place out of 6,844 initial entrants in the tournament that evening. Suharto had entered the competition on the $10,000 seat for the main event that he secured after playing an $80 online poker tournament.

The game went on at a good pace until the final four players were left standing at the final table and one more player had been eliminated from the poker tournament.

The fifth player to go was Scott Montgomery who had cost Suharto his seat in the tourney.

This left four more players vying for top place. These lucky four were Ivan Demidov who had managed to secure chips worth 49.1 million, Peter Eastgate who was a few millions behind Demidov with 47.625 million. Ylon Schwartz, chess master cum poker champion stood at 22.175 million closely followed by Dennis Phillips who had secured a total of 17.325 million in poker chips.
