Daniel Negreanu

Daniel Negreanu

Daniel Negreanu the second son of Annie and Constantin was born on July 26, 1974 in Toronto, Canada.

He took to playing poker as a 15 year old and within a year was spending time learning more and more about playing cards.

The big earnings and public recognition began to come Daniel's way in 1997, winning two events in the finals of World Poker which earned him $55,064 along with the title of the best all round player of the tournament. In 1998 he won $169,460 in the Pot Limit Hold'em event of the World Series of Poker. Up until 2004 he was the youngest winner of the WSOP bracelet.

Daniel made a name for himself in the world of poker tournaments as one of the best by winning two World Poker Tour events. Apart from the WSOP bracelet he won 1998 he won another four so far and has appeared in the finals of 12 events. World Series of Poker player of the year award was Daniel's in 2004 which was followed in 2005 by being named the World Poker Tour player of the year in 2005.

Daniel was also the "poker ambassador" at the Wynn Las Vegas resort soon after which he started his online poker cardroom site on Full Contact Poker his official site which includes a blog and a variety of forums on poker. He went under the screen name of "Kidpoker" while playing in his site. Daniel has also been successful at identifying two new talents which he did by conducting protégé selection competitions. This says a lot about his commitment towards poker which has brought him so much. He was ready to sponsor his protégés to four events where the buy-ins was in the range of $10,000.

Other than his protégés Daniel has done a great deal towards the promotion of the game and helping those wanting to make a name in poker. It is no wonder then that he has been awarded "Favorite Poker Player" by Card Player Magazine. He is a prolific writer; his “Daniel Negreanu's Power Hold'em Strategy” released on January 1, 2008 covers everything that there is about hold'em. He has also been part of many TV shows besides being an online tutor and giving personal lessons on poker to people like Toby Maguire.

Since June 11, 2007, Daniel has been with Pokerstars, joining the likes of Greg Raymer, Chris Moneymaker, Joe Hachem and such other professional players of poker.

Other than poker he takes to golf and likes to take up new challenges whenever possible, always wanting to push the envelope. Most people would say that poker players are not great when it comes to communicating but Daniel is different here as well. He regularly updates the forums in his official site and is does not shy away from saying what he has to.

With total earnings as of 2008 standing at more than $10,100,000 Daniel is one the highest earners in the circuit.
